DroidDB Tip of the Month

DroidDB® Tip for December 2011

Converting a Visual CE form to DroidDB

You may have an existing Visual CE form you want to bring into DroidDB. This is easy to do:

  1. Open the DroidDB development environment. Choose your application (or create a new one).
  2. Copy the .VCE file into the application folder.
  3. Press down and hold the CTRL key on your keyboard.
  4. While the CTRL key is still pressed, select FILE | OPEN from the menu.
  5. You will see a file selection dialog. Select the .VCE file in your application folder.

DroidDB will open the .VCE file and convert it to a DroidDB form. You can then select FILE | SAVE to save your converted form into your application.

Note: There is no need to create the underlying table of the form. DroidDB will create it based on the table definition stored in the form.

Top rated! I needed a solid database application development tool for mobile devices. I chose DroidDB for Android OS because it provided a way to get a strong product to market quickly. DroidDB is relational, gives me control over form layout, handles macros, and supports events. It works on all Android versions I have tried and is a great companion product to SYWARE’s VisualCE.
