Installing DroidDB

Installing the DroidDB® Runtime System Using Drag and Drop

If you get the DroidDB runtime from the Android market or by entering a URL in a browser on the device, the DroidDB Runtime gets installed on the handheld. But, you may end up with the installer file (droiddb.apk) on the desktop. If you find yourself in that situation, here's one way to do the installation:

  1. Connect your handheld to the desktop
  2. On your desktop, select START | COMPUTER
  3. On your desktop, double click the icon that represents your handheld
  4. On your desktop, drag and drop the .APK file onto the handheld
  5. On your handheld, run the file explorer on the handheld *
  6. On your handheld, navigate to the .APK file and click on it
This will install the runtime

Note: The DroidDB Runtime installer file is sometimes called anddrtxx.apk.

* Some handheld devices do not have a file explorer on them. If yours does not, you can get one from here or here.

Top rated! I needed a solid database application development tool for mobile devices. I chose DroidDB for Android OS because it provided a way to get a strong product to market quickly. DroidDB is relational, gives me control over form layout, handles macros, and supports events. It works on all Android versions I have tried and is a great companion product to SYWARE’s VisualCE.
